Meet Abby

Abby Sidery is a mother of two young children, Registered Midwife, Registered Nurse and Certified Doula. Having grown up as the daughter of a home birth midwife, birth has always been a passion and never something to be feared.

She has worked in various roles, across multiple settings including Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney’s East and Northern Beaches Hospital, as well as supporting Sheryl Sidery as a second midwife at home births.

Currently working at Northern Beaches Hospital in their MAPS program. Abby has an innate ability to deliver evidence based information in a warm, light hearted way.

Meet Abby

I am Abby.
I am a mother of two delightful children, daughter Bobbie, and son Felix.
I am a midwife’s daughter and grew up going to home births and innately trusting women’s capacity to birth their babies.
This is what drew me to midwifery.
I have worked in many models of care between The Royal Hospital for Women at Randwick and Northern Beaches Hospital. I am currently working in MAPS offering continuity if midwifery care for the antenatal and postnatal period but unfortunately not the birth at the moment, as I don’t want to frequently be away from my babies for long periods of time.

I love being able to share all the juicy stuff that doesn’t fit in to a 30min appt or home visit… all that stuff that you didn’t know you needed to know from pregnancy to your baby’s brain development and nurturing a secure attachment with your baby.

I grew up dancing, worked in fashion and hospo before becoming a midwife myself.

I smile too wide, laugh too loud and make inappropriate jokes. When I am really excited you might just see me busting out a leg mount.

It is coming up to almost 4 years of running Birth Circle after taking it over from my mum, and I couldn’t be more proud of the community we have built.
